Randy at work in his 'cave'

Randy's Guitar Collection

Everyone knows that one of my passions is my guitar collection. This has taken me about 15 years to get to this point.

Each and every one of them is special to me in one way or another. Below you'll find descriptions and a brief reason why they are special to me.

1. 1955 Gretsch Country Club. This guitar was left to me by my grandfather. He bought it in 1955 with the matching amplifier which I also have.
2. 1959 Gibson ES125 This guitar was given to me by my brother-in-law. He found it in his fathers closet after he passed away
3. Accolade 6 string acoustic This was the first acoustic that I bought. Cheap as hell. It's not the greatest, but it worked for the time
4. Harmony Acoustic/Electric 6 Left to me by my Grandfather. It's great for recordings.
5. Yamaha FGX412 Elect/Acous. 12 I bought this because I've always loved the sound of a 12 string and the fact that it's electric also makes it perfect for recording.
6. Epiphone DR212 12 string This was given to me by my friend. The soundboard had 'bellied' raising the action, but after some consultation with the techs at Stewart-MacDonald, I got it flattened out and playable again.
7. Unknown Classical Nylon Given to my by a co-worker. It needed LOTS of TLC. Now it's a nice playing nylon acoustic.
8. 1978 Gibson Les Paul Custom Another co-worker saw this at a garage sale and thought of me. It had some damage from years of abuse, but a little money and a lot of care made this one of my favorite playing guitars.
9. Epiphone G400 The latest of the collection. I just wanted a guitar type that I didn't already have. I have never been a huge fan of the SG, but this thing plays like heaven.
10. Ibanez ST70BS Studio Series This is my No. 1 go-to guitar.  I bought this from a pawn shop. I loved the way it played and it was the first guitar I bought after having sold all of my equipment after the band broke up.
11. Harmony Stratocaster Bought because I wanted a guitar with a whammy bar. Still plays like the new. Great for that 'Strat' sound.
12. Rogue RP612 Double neck I bought this from Musicians Friend strictly because I thought it was way cool. Great for recording and the 12 string plays like a 6 string. A little unwieldy but fun as hell.
13. Roland G707 Guitar Synth By far, the most bizarre of my collection. This guitar attaches to a floor pedal and can mimic keyboards, wind instruments and other strange sounds. The beauty of it is that I can attach it to my computer and record the notes to MIDI rather than trying to write the music note by note thereby capturing the playing technique of a guitar rather than keyboard.
14. Epiphone Les Paul Pee Wee I bought this more as a joke than for use. I just thought it was cute and unique.
15. Electra Jazz Bass My parents bought this for me when I was just starting out playing bass in high school. It's still my favorite bass.
16. De Armond Pilot Pro Plus 5 string Bought recently because I wanted to try my hand at a 5 string bass. With it's active electronics, it's a well playing bass with a great feel.
17. Oscar Schmidt OE 30 I bought this guitar because I wanted a semi-hollow body that I could use all the time without fear of damaging it like my Gretsch or Gibson. It had a cool blue finish and I didn't have a single blue guitar. (Fave color)
18. Fender Stratocaster This guitar was given to me by my friend Jody. It has the H-S-S pickup configuration. Nice, well  playing guitar.
19. Fender Telecaster I bought this guitar to go along with my Strat. You can't have one without the other.
20. Switch Innovo IV Midi This guitar I bought because it would give me another guitar that I could use with my computer. It has a Roland GK system built into it and another cool thing is that this guitar is NOT made of wood. It's all hi-tech, space age stuff so the elements don't do anything to it.
21. Epiphone Firebird Studio I got this just because I wanted to break out of the Strat/Les Paul  thing. I wanted something different for the collection and this looked like the perfect guitar for the job.
22. Washburn Paul Stanley  I saw this and had to buy it. Although I'm not sure of the playability of the guitar itself, just the fact that it was signed by Paul Stanley of KISS meant that I had to buy it.
23. Washburn RO10 Cool little travel guitar. Better sound than the Martin backpacker and came with a very sturdy case. Will be fun on the road or vacation.

Other Equipment In The Arsenal

I know that I'll forget stuff but this is pretty complete.

Too many other microphones to list, but a ton of those too!

And various pedals: distortion, octave multipliers, chorus echo, etc. Including some of my own design.
